1. Leave a trail of orange juice to the bathroom
2. Perch yourself on top of a stall in the bathroom and act like some sort of reptile
3. Go into the dressing rooms and yell "you ran out of toilet paper in here!"
4. Hide in the clothing rack and when someone walks by, jump out and yell "pick me pick me!!"
5. When someone is behind you, walk really slowly.
6. Set up a huge war between Marvel action figures and the wrestling figures.
7. Get on one of the phones and say "We have a code three in housewear", and see what happens.
8. Set up a tent and tell people they can't come in unless they bring a pillow.
9. When someone announces something over the speakers, drop on the ground, assume the fetal position with your hands over your ears and yell "No, not the voices again!"
10. When an employee asks if they can help you, yell "Why can't you people just leave me the hell alone!!"
11. Walk up to a stranger and start having a conversation with them like you know them and see if they play along.
12. Get roles of wrapping paper and challange other people to a duel.
13. Randomly distribute packs of condoms into peoples carts.

...hand out Union Rep cards. Then shop only at places that pay fair wages to the workers in the store & on the manufacturing production lines of their products. (If any of them still exist.)

I know people who go in wal-mart and use their hairsprays, deoderants, eat out of cookie boxes....etc and put everything back and do not buy a thing!

..and I saw a really grimy homeless guy eating out of a grocery store salad bar with his dirty hands. But I was happy because it was where my evil boss got her lunch every day.:mean:

...but could you explain this further?

Don't feel bad. Maybe it's because I'm young...but that one went over my head.

IMHO, chains like Wal-mart are hurting american workers by leading the race to the bottom. Read Barbara Ehrenreich's book, Nickle And Dimed if you have no notion about the life of the Wal-mart employee. Check out the website for Sweatshop Watch if you have not idea about the lives of the workers who make the cheap junk they sell there.

What would it do if the employees at a store like Wal-mart signed representation cards (or at your place of employment, perhaps)? There would have to be an election for the workers to decide if they want a union to represent them. Workers would no longer face management alone, but with the legal strenth of a union local to protect them & enforce labor laws.

I have worked union & non-union for the same industry, & I can tell you that union is a better deal for workers. Why should you care? Because not caring is what put us where we are now, with too many uninsured kids whose parents work too many hours to afford inadequate housing. If you are "too young" to think about pensions, benefits, and rights, note that I never even noticed the 13 years it took me to go from being a hard-working, driven young skilled worker to an injured middle-aged white elephant. Unless you demand better for yourself, nobody will secure it for you.

I agree you must demand better for yourself. However that doesn't mean Unionizing. If you don't like the job you accepted then quit and get a better one. It is not up to management to change a job to fit the worker but it is for them to find a worker to fit the job. A fair wage is whatever people are willing to work for. It is supply and demand, if the working conditions or benifits are too bad then the workers will go else where. If the workers don't have the skills or education to work elsewhere or there are no other jobs out there and the workers are willing to work for what is offered then it is a fair wage.

I have been on both sides of it and I have been screwed by the Union telling the workers to vote for deals that benifit the Union but hurt the workers. Alot of the workers were uneducated and in Kentucky there is a strong feeling that the Union was the savior of Miners and that it is still out to help them so they will vote for what they are told to without questioning whether it is really the best thing. In the end the Union is a business and they are out to increase there coffers not to protect anyone.

Please don't take this a flame as I am against the Union and not against you. I respect your opinion but I very much disagree. This is a touchy subject for me right now because I am fighting as hard as I can for the State Government I work for not to allow Unions in. We have a better retirement plan then any other State or priviate industry. We are on a Merit System that says in effect that we can not be fired without documented wrong doing and the Union thinks they can improve on this.

I know this is way off thread but have something to add by experience. My business is not union but is signatory to union labor. What that means is we only use union labor for the construction work we do.

artchick is right on, our union employees make a package almost double of what our non-union competitors employees make. Good health benefits, excellent retirement benefits. Who knows where those poor non-union guys will be in 20-30 years.

Here's the problem. Guess who has the most of the work in our area? That's right the non-union companies because we cost more. Most people are not willing to pay more. Who out there can say they haven't shopped for the best price on something. We all do.

I agree with artchick. It would be a wonderful world if more people were willing to hire & pay my company more because i can sleep well at night knowing our employees make a great living. We get work because in general we do a better job of servicing our customers than most of our non-union competitors. When they figure that out & fix it, we are out of business, period.

We have actually lost work because our people make more than the owners rep that is managing the entire project. I can't speak to the retail side of things except that these CEO's who have basically stole from their companies, employees and investors should be keel-hauled on an aircraft carrier. Even that is probably too good for them.

Rant done, blood pressure lowering
