Well, I'm glad your attitude is good.

Honestly, if they canceled a class on me for 'only' having five students, I'd likely go elsewhere.

My LDS only had three in my class, and still had the course. It was a great group and every one of us bought equipment from them, so hopefully they were on the good end of that exchange.

Good luck.

Hey everyone. I just learned today that they have cancelled my course that was supposed to start Sunday because they didn't have enough people (They had like five?). Now I am really bummed.

Anyway, thats all I have to say. I guess it will just have to wait. :(

That's a bummer...I would start making phone calls right now for another one.....looks like you'll have to change your handle to 'DiverToBe-laterthansooner'...J/K'ing...you'll find one.....

Haha Frank. It's pool, no wetsuit, and im not that heavy.

Anyway, here is the update from the first confined water dive.

Turns out, we have a huge class. Bummer. I would say 12 people, but they are all nice so it should be alright. We got to the YMCA, took a quiz on the reading, and then went down to the pool. We swam 200 meters nonstop, no time limit, and treaded water for 10 minutes to find out if we were fit enough to take the class. Everyone passed. Then we learned how to set up everything and got in the water. I was so anxious just floating there, because we weren't supposed to go under yet, so I was just messing with my BCD and such. Everyone got in, all their stuff on, and he said what I was waiting for "Alright, so I guess you guys should try breathing now!" Stuck the regulator in my mouth, deflated my BCD, ducked my head under and took a breath. It was everything that I had dreamed of. One of the coolest things I have EVER done.

We sat and breathed for a little while, me taking it all in, while he gave the dreaded "time to go up" hand signal. We went up, and he explained the next step - Taking the regulator out of your mouth underwater, finding it again (Arm sweep), and getting it back in your mouth while still never holding your breath. Holy cow was that hard! The first time, I got it out, found it again, and put it back in and cleared it. Though I held my breath the whole time. Damn you, skin diving! I tried it over and over until I thought I had the hang of it. I inhaled some water which was unpleasant, but I figured it out for now. We then got to swim around for awhile, before getting out and learning how to pack up and take care of your gear.

What a great experience. I can not WAIT for an open water dive. So physched about the whole thing.

I got 11 others in my class - 250 a hat (no females) and, no, they would not run a class with less then 12 unless you pay for semiprivate lessons despite of having their own pool. on the other hand the service seams to be ok, equipment wise, though i could not get a deal on a whole package (gear wise) - he was talking to me like i was trying to get a discount on a mask defog and an air fill (yeah, some tend to be like that). ended up geting most of my gear in other places.
Now the FUN PART: the instructor will not allow a drysuit or a wing + 2x80's (independent, 2 regs) for the checkout dives; there are other minor issues as well, hope to sort them out (somehow, maybe changing the LDS).
sometimes i have the feeling that most of these LDS gyus still live in paleozoic - imagine them being a MARES DEALER and having no clue (or no interest to advertise it) about the Mares lifetime free parts policy.
as far as my experience goes (not to much of it) 99% of the guys dealing online are way more friendly and customer oriented then the LDS ones. To bad you can not get a fill from an online shop.

P.S. sounds like i'm at least a bit frustrated, deas it not?????

Ive got a question for you guys. The last confined water dive, we went down to the 9 foot end of the pool to practice fin piveting. I had some trouble equalizing, but eventually got down comfortably. I got my boyancy right and got it down, but on the way up I started to get dizzy/light headed and slightly disoriented for a minute. I got up fine, but I was wondering if anyone knows what was going on?

Were you a little stuffy after the dive? Probably sinus pressure, I may be wrong though :D
