There is a shipwreck off Little Sable Point called the William Davock. Has anyone dove on this? How deep? Is this a good wreck to dive on? What is there to see?

If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's just off the beach at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes. It's real shallow, like 15 feet. We didn't dive it because you could see from the surface that it was just a bunch of parts on the bottom. Not recognizable as a ship.

However, if you go that far, the Minches are nice as is the Commanche. The Minches are both shallower than 60 and the Commanche is about 90.

Thanks Cobaltblue,
Any chance you have GPS lat/long. or know who does. I do not find the Comanchee on my chart. Have you dove these wrecks?

Here's a pretty good list.

Brighty
Whitehall N 43 29.898 W 86 29.892 Depth: 75 ft.

Comanche (Tugboat)
Pentwater N 43 50.253 W 86 29.023 Depth: 80 ft.

Hamilton Artificial Reef
Muskegon N 43 12.990 W 86 20.499 Depth: 30 ft.

Interlaken
Whitehall N 43 27.056 W 86 27.497 Depth: 15 ft.

Ironsides
Grand Haven N 43 02.931 W 86 19.155 Depth: 120 ft.

Minch 1 (Bow)
Pentwater N 43 45.754 W 86 27.764 Depth: 40 ft.

Minch 2 (Stern)
Pentwater N 43 45.619 W 86 27.811 Depth: 40 ft.

Salvor (Barge)
Muskegon N 43 15.615 W 86 22.119 Depth: 30 ft.

State of Michigan
Whitehall N 43 23.336 W 86 27.851 Depth: 65 ft.

I'm not sure if the Minch Bow coordinates are right. If I remember correctly, one of the numbers is transposed. All the info is on my boat right now, I'll check next time I'm out there and let you know.

I've dove all of these except the Brighty, can't seem to find it and we haven't really given it a good go with all the proper depth sounding equipment and such.

If I am wrong, I hope someone will correct me. The William Davoc is a deep wreck, beyond recreational limits (I beleive 210'). I beleive that the shallow wreck south of Pentwater that cobaltblue was refering to is the Novadoc, which in the same storm thatalso claimed the Minch & Davoc

The storm would have been the Armistice Day storm on November 11, 1940. I thought I remembered seeing the Davoc as a technical dive.

My chart however good it is shows the Novadock as 235' steamer turned turtle off Pentwater 72' deep.
The William Davock 420' coal boat 8 miles from Pentwater 150'-205' deep.
The chart has 1/2 of the Minch 1 1/2 miles south of Pentwater marked with a bouy 18' deep, the other 1/2 out with the William Devock. (is this the wreck just off Silver Lake Dunes?)
My chart is old and not for navagation. What I am interested in is a few good wrecks to dive on that are not too deep and close to a port because my boat only hase a 45-50 mile range.
If cobaltblue is correct the Minch would be perfect.

I'll look up this info in my books tonight & get back to you. The books that I have also have the GPS #s so I can enter them in my GPS & see where they are in relation to the harbors.
