I just returned from a trip to Okinawa, Japan with a mission to build a detailed photogrammetry model of the USS Emmons on the 80th Anniversary of the year it sank (April 7, 1945).

This post has all of the details of my trip (lodging, flights, dive logistics, etc) and I will soon be publishing detailed posts on the wreck itself, the photogrammetry model I'm building, and potentially a "behind the scenes" look at taking on a photogrammetry project of this size/scope.

This project would not have been possible without Kurt Reese and William. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to them.

Suffice it to say that the USS Emmons is an amazing wreck that is approachable from advanced recreational divers. I spent 5 dives on the wreck and took 7,500+ photos for the photogrammetry model which I will soon publish.
