thanks for sharing the pics, that looks like a great beach dive, hate that it is gone. what kind of filefish is that?

The saltwater kind :)

I dunno, I'm sure one of them is a Scrawled Filefish, but there were 2 or three flavors on site that day(2.5 years ago).

Thanks for sharing the pics. Enjoyed looking at them. Was this a shallow wreck? Looks like lots of ambient light. So it's not there anymore? Where did it go?

These pics and the thread from SeaYoda are so nastalgic for me. These are all from around the first few years I was certified. Everyone posted pics and reports all the time. I was so excited about diving and everything was so new.

I'm looking forward to get back down to the gulf as soon as it warms up a little.

Thanks Mat for posting these.

I've been diving The Whiskey sence 1986, It's not gone it's just covered at this time, It will reexpose given time.
It could be a great dive but more often than not it could be a nightmare.........You just have to pick the rite time to dive her.:)

yep, I saltwater filefish no doubt, but, he matches none of the filefish in my fish id book, maybe a new species, a whiskey wreck file fish

Sanbar moved over the top of it. Max depth is like 20', when she's mostly uncovered, last time I dove her the max depth of more like 12'.

I've definately had more good dives than bad dives on the Whiskey, course my definition of a good dive may vary greatly from other people's idea of a good dive! :D

I totally agree with that! :D

I hope to be diving more this year and producing more new pics and reports. It's a good new year's resolution anyway ......
