We got out of OC early on sunday morning bound for the Moonstone. I had bounced this wreck alot in years past only to find poor vis, but allways fish. We went out under clear skies and favourable seas for the long ride. We arrived to find the wreck un-occupied and after finding the current to be negligible the pool was open.

The top water was a nice blue and it looked promiseing. I splashed last to bust a long one and going down the line I got discouraged at the thermo cline at 40 (wearing the wrong underwear) it got cold and dark. By the time I got to the chain it opened up to 50 feet and I could allmost see the entire wreck. This wreck is heavily influenced by the DE bay flush effect, so this was a rare treat! She has deteriorated alot from years past, but still easy to navigate, especially with this vis. I saw the whole wreck and got dinner out of the way and could not get back to the line fast enough to warm up.

I typically only do one long dive but this was such a treat I went back in for a second dive to really take it in. Run time for both dives was 74 minutes on 25/20, 32/20, and 70, max depth was 128. I felt truly blessed to see this wreck with these conditions.

Glad you guys had a good dive!! I was watching the storms on radar hoping they would stay south For ya :-)

Sounds like good conditions Eric, barring the temps. I think the storm swept in between both of us. It was to the north and looked really nasty. We got some rain coming back in but stayed warm and dry inside the cabin.

I think your right the storm split us. It got breezy and cool while pulling the hook, but the seas laid down for a speeedy trip home. It rained while we were at the fuel dock, cue the wet t shirt for the fuel bunny +1. lol
