I see. Just looked up the specs. However, no AI on the Descent.

The Garmin doesn't look like it has AI. Also, is the GF configurable? The main Garmin product page doesn't give much data or I didn't see it.

Sounds like it would be best to wait for a Mk2 or just buy the Shearwater. If I were buying a technical diving instrument I would want to know it will perform flawlessly.

The Garmin appears to be a bit of a bloated pig. I think when companies try to be all things to everyone they end up being mediocre at everything.

When you read reports of the Descent failing to start a dive, I would not have a lot of confidence in it.

What the what? I must say that I'd been hoping for petrel type form factor with the added features. However, this has promise. My wife has been asking me to find her a watch sized computer, with my petrel only garnering sneers.

I'd already sold my petrels in preparation for a move to Ratio's iX3M. Now I've got to rethink the plan. Does anyone know of a shop in the Tampa, Florida area (preferably Pinellas county) that might have one of these bad boys to inspect in person.

I think the Teric is very sexy and tempting, but I don't understand its price tag. Discovering the news, I was hopping for a cheaper price than the Perdix, but not at all...
I wanted to buy a Shearwater dive computer, but I guess it won't be this one. Maybe a second hand Perdix as I guess many (rich) people might want to upgrade their baby.

EZ Scuba off Hillsborough Ave. is a Shearwater dealer and had a Perdix on display when it came out, I would imagine they'll get a Teric in soon.

When i asked suggestions about which dive computer are best / top in technical diving. Mostly everyone clearly suggested Shearwater. No need to waste money to other dive computer- Shearwater is solid.

Now Why do we compare to Garmin Descent Mk1 ?
Is it because Shearwater do Watch wrist-based and we can compare now ?
