OK, what is with people who lean on the receptionist's counter right in your face while they are waiting for someone you've already notified; and/or sort papers to leave for someone on your counter and grab the pen practically out of your hand to write something?!

On a separate but related rant- what about employees that encounter the above and meet with their customer leaning on your counter rather than leading him to a conference room, or at least the waiting area (a whole 10 feet away!)

Aaugh!

If this runs a bit long, please forgive me, but . . .

My father was a master tool and die maker before he retired. He was very proud of and careful with his work. He used to make parts holding tolerances of +/- fifty millionths of an inch!

One of his pet peeves was for one of the maxed out, hairy cracked, tool belt toting mechanics to come into his work area, hop up on his work bench and then ask, "Are you in my way?" Really wet him off!

Well, one year when the plant at which he worked was shut down for annual maintenance, the mechanics removed one of those industrial sized bug zappers from the company patio.

Dad scrounged up the capacitor from the bug zapper and mounted it under his work bench at the far end. He ran 2 very, very fine wires to the other end of the table, drilled two small holes through the table top and brought the wires up from underneath the table through the 2 holes. He clipped the wires off and then filed them flush with the surface of the table.

From then on when one of the mechanics would come in and hop up on his work bench, he would slowly amble down to the other end of his work bench, turn on the capacitor, wait for it to charge to its break point, and then watch the ensuing hillarity!

Don't get mad, get even . . .

I love it! I had been thinking about the spiky strips they use to keep birds off building ledges, but that's waay better! I needed that :D

I want one for my car!! People like to lean on that too AND it's a classic!! No rivets allowed on my paint job!

You guys are so mean!! I love it. Thanks for the good laugh,

Without getting into the whys and wherefores, my dad was the same guy who, after explaining to a co-worker several times that it was impolite to park in someone's usual and accustomed parking place, used a very large fork lift to place the offender's car with the front tires on one side of a square cut ditch and the rear tires on the other.

I used to have this dive site I would take students to, one of my pet peeves is swimming with their hands and whenever I had a hand swimmer I would take them through this narrow urchin lined crack between two rocks that was just narrow enough to be able to touch the sides of....... They soon stop using their hands..

Here's another rant.

As a bartender, I used to have to work the service bar sometimes. It is plainly marked "SERVERS ONLY" People would come & stand there. Blocking the cocktail waitresses from placing their drink orders. I was unable to wait on these customers because, HELLO, service doesn't have a cash register. So even after I told them they'd need to go to the regular bar, they'd still hang out by me - clogging up the service bar.
It's no fun dealing with idiots. Even less fun when the idiots are consuming liquor.

There is something like that for cars as thief deterent system, only thing is you have to put this stupid stickers all over the car warning people of that. Dang insurance companies take all the fun out of certain things.

We did something like that in HS, guy had a little MG. Decided he could park wherever he pleased, and take as many spots as he wanted. One day, 8 of us picked up his car and moved onto the curb blocking a fire hydrant. Funny how fast a car will be towed when it is blocking a fire hydrant at a HS.
