Getting questioned and lectured about how I'm violating DIR by some "newb" who took fundies -- TWO THUMBS DOWN FOR DIR!

It's been the latter experience that has been the bane of my diving existence since this philosophy reached open water divers and soon I'm going to start reinacting the film Amsterdamned when I encounter it. But, Bob Sherwood told me I've been attacking that problem from the outside and he suggested that I start trying to fix it from within the system.

Or you could just get over it and recognize that some people are jerks regardless of where they get their dive instruction from.

Hell, I'd just ignore a fellow who was basically diving solo and on independent doubles espousing to be the DIR police and and hammering you for diving solo. Hell, if I were that guy, I'd be too embarrassed to say I know anything about GUE/DIR. :mooner:

Regardless of the "emotional button" that gets pushed by this guy and your past experience, I'm glad to see that you enjoyed your dive with Chris and how well the system can work.

Here in the SF Bay Area, I know quite a few divers, most of them non-DIR and it's been fun sharing with them some of the things I've learned from my GUE training.

In my experience, I haven't seen any DIR divers criticizing non-DIR divers in fact it's more the opposite, I'll hear more DIR misconceptions than anything else. Funny how someone could have such an "expert" opinion about DIR and yet never taken a course.
