This thread is five years old...and PerroneFord seems to have progressed in his training since then. :)

Haha... I didn't even check the dates

It's the old double edged sword.

New user posts a question and a dozen people tell them to do a search first. If they do a search first they inadvertently resurrect an old thread and a dozen people point that out to them.

What's old is new again and now we have the opportunity to help someone else find their own path. :)

You know what CD? You're right. I wasn't thinking about what Kurtguy wanted to know, mea culpa.

My apologies Kurtguy; lot's of people here can help you out with ideas about your path. I am but a wreck diving noob too.

I thought kurtguy was giving advice... If not, kurtguy what are your questions and people can help you out?

The best advice is to find a wreck instructor employing the best practices for the kind of diving environment and geographic/oceanographic region that you are interested in. For example, if you're interested in WWII Pacific Wrecks, take a course at where they actually are --at such as the Philippines or Truk Lagoon. The transport/tanker wrecks in Truk are over 65 years old, fraught with danger of collapse as well as unstable live ordnance and large quantities of caustic Aviation Gas leaking from deteriorating fuel drums, so you definitely would want an instructor/guide with knowledge & experience diving on these wreck sites. (Obviously, these are not previously prepared & cleaned wrecks with planned cutouts through the length of the hull/superstructure like the purpose sunken artificial reefs of Carrier USS Oriskany in Pensacola, or Sub-chaser HMCS Yukon in San Diego). . .

No worries. I just didn't want us to lose sight of the fact he was looking for help :)

I understand what everyone is telling you and it is excellent advice but like you I am looking for what I need to do next.

Sas, the way I read it is that he's pretty well got it figured out and passing some of his advice to Perrone, but he's also trying to figure out exactly what his next step is.

LOL! Wow was this a fun blast from the past. Hard to believe it was only 5 years ago. LOT of things have happened since then...

Kurtguy, I hope you find your own path as I did. And reflecting back on the answers I got here, they were excellent, and as expected, with more experience, the answers became more correct and more obvious.

Hey... if you don't mind, could you post a bit about your path? I'm just curious as there are lots of posts like this and little follow up normally :) I made a similar post to you when I started diving actually and yes a LOT has happened to me too!
