I believe that one skill that good divers possess is knowing when to call a dive, either in the water or before it starts. Does anyone have any stories about dives that they have thumbed or not attempted?

Drove 1.5 hours to the marina, loaded boat (45 min), steamed to the dive site at night (45 min) and grabbed the mooring. I had a bad afternoon, traffic was miserable, weather conditions were dramatically worse than predicted/expected, and I was just p*ssed off. I decided to call it because my head was not in the right place. Buddy and I cracked a few cold ones on top of the wreck then steamed back to port. Following week same drill and I was as relaxed as could be. It is amazing how the same site can be a totally different dive experience based on your mental state.
