Well I’ve finally had the opportunity to dive a TFX second due to a loan from Geo7, I’ve only done one dive and now have one on order, this truly represents the top of regulator performance, bar none. There are many excellent second stages available and if you never try anything else you’ll never know what you’re missing, many divers only try new things in an involuntary way which is probably the best way to financial security and piece of mind…

Until mine arrives I’m not going to delve to deeply into the inner workings of it but will make a few tuning adjustments just to see what happens. Crazy can be fun.

I’ve finished my time with the loaner and even if TFX stands for To F’n Xpensive I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of mine

While I have found the D420 properly tuned breathes as well in just normal diving the TFX really shines in every other position and has proven a general delight in use and the exhaust deflectors are a massive improvement. Finding a deal hasn’t been productive but the damn thing is still worth it I think, the general advertised 15% is all I could find but it saved $200.

It does not, I have no idea how or why they came up with 32” for their hose but but to short for under the arm and to long for over the shoulder, baffling choice.

I can't wait for you to dive with it and put it to test and let us know all about it :)

100% agree.

I suspect that it's a case of, they can't go shorter, because then it wouldn't be even close to long enough to donate - which would be a problem for anyone using one of the Atomic Safe Second octo/inflators.

And making it truly long enough for good use when donating would make it WAY too long for use as a normal primary. Their swivel doesn't swivel enough to make it usable with the hose routed under your arm.

So, the stock length is the worst of both worlds.

On mine, I used that repair kit thing that has been posted about before and cut the stock hose down to a better length, so that I was able to keep/use the fancy titanium swivel.

what a waste -- is there a possiblity to order it with a different hose (or without one)?
