There's time to explore, but you need to stay in your assigned area for a variety of reasons.

That looks really awesome! I'll have to check it out again when I meet the requirements. I'd make that drive for my OW checkout dives...hint hint to DFW shops ;-)

You can do checkouts with a shop in Austin if you've done the pool/class work already...it will cost a bit more though, since you'll have to pay the local shop for the checkouts.

That's what I did with my wife. At the time, there weren't many instructors certified to use the Training Area in Spring Lake and the Diving for Science Course was $75.
