Related question about lunch options near the airport:
I'm picking up a friend at the airport at ca. 2pm on Wednesday, then driving east to CompassPoint. He'll want to grab a quick lunch (and beer) either before we leave the airport area, or on the way. GTYC has been recommended, but doesn't sound quick (or casual.) Any other suggestions that won't take us out of the way? (FYI, I'm leaving tomorrow AM for my first trip to GC, so I'm clueless about what's what and what's where.)

It can be quick and casual. Many folks are on limited time so they are used to it and the view outside is beautiful. Other suggestios would be My Bar at Sunset House or even Rackhams. There are choices on the drive out but by the time you get to them ypu may as well finish the journey.

If he can wait, grab a snack and then eat at Eagle Ray's at Compass Point - great spot and good food!

+ 1 on Sunset House - we always eat there on our way to the airport - nice waterfront spot and the food is good! Rackham's too as long as there are no cruise ships in port or else traffic/parking can be a mess in downtown George Town.

Well, we're staying at CompassPoint, so my guess we'll be eating at Eagle Ray's plenty! Sunset house seems to be the wrong direction from the airport (we're driving to Compass Point after lunch.) The GTYC sounds like a good fit for this lunch.

It is the opposite direction but only a few minutes away. When we were visitors we used go check in at airport and then meet friends at Sunset House for a goidbye lunch. Once you start heading East there are not that many places and no doubt you will visit them during the week.

FYI the shuttle runs everyday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the present time. Depending on demand this might change.

Then I must be thinking of breakfast, the GTYC shuttle runs early only on Saturday and Sunday.

Well the guy who answered the phone there clearly said 7 days a week 11 to 6. Maybe Breakfast is late some days.

No, the George Town Yacht Club serves breakfast from 8:30 am to 11 am on weekends, see the link below - and I know that they run the airport shuttle during breakfast on the weekends.

Last November we took an early flight back from Little Cayman to GCM on a Saturday. We checked our bags and then hopped on the GTYC shuttle with lovely Christine as the driver. We didn't want breakfast because we had already eaten a very early breakfast at the Little Cayman Beach Resort before we left LC. We were taking a UA non-stop back home so we knew that we wouldn't have a chance to eat again until late afternoon Chicago time, so we wanted to order an early lunch.

We asked if they would make some cracked conch for us instead of the offered breakfast menu and they graciously obliged - and it was delicious! Then Christine shuttled us back to the airport with plenty of time to spare. It was a nice way to end a lovely vacation and there was no need to stop at the Hungry Horse!

Kathy. I called and asked them because I know our friends used the shuttle on a Monday. We met them there. So I knew it wasn’t just Sat and Sun as you mentioned. These things often change depending on demand etc and maybe the emploee was mistaken, but I think it is best for people to check when they are making plans rather than counting on what happened to somebody else in the past. Since the folks really using the service for the most part are visitors on there way out they should call and confirm the service which may have changed when they want it anyway. :).
