I briefly looked at the messages and wanted to add a few comments ....

The O-Pac was introduced at DEMA ... it does not require a STA (single tank adapter) although one can be used with it. Personally, it is not needed and I would not use one with it.

All of our wings do have slots. The next run of wings will have larger slots to accomodate a variety of existing hanress systems other than OxyCheq products.

Oops.. Guess I should have looked at my wing closer. I was going off memory when I mounted the STA and didnt remember any slots in the wing. Bad info on my part. can you give me more specifics on the O-Pac? Any reasons why I would want this over the travel bp/wing you currently offer?

Now I understand. The WING doesent have slots. Thats fine by me. My oxycheck 45# doesent either. Ill have to call patrick about the O-pac. Ill check their website to see if they show a pic of one. Strangley enough, when I talked to him regarding my cold water setup, he mentioned that the travel BP's were not good sellers. Maybe the O-pac is being made to address that problem?

Admittedly the applications are more limited but it is a good SS alternative for aluminum if you don't need the side mounting holes on the plate. I use mine with double 72's and al80's when the 6# plate is too heavy for me, like with a 3/2 wetsuit in Mexico. There the canister gives me the weight I need on my waist.

Patrick,

When are you going to have pictures of your new products posted?

Is there a well-made BC in a "back-inflated" style that is especially made for travel (thinking international air travel)? I prefer the back-inflated vs. the jacket-style BC, but few ( if any) "travel" BC's are specifically designed for travel (lightweight, foldable, etc...), and the ones I DO see are as pricey as the "standard" models!!
What gives?

I've said it before, Harley, but it's worth repeating - NOTHING, and I mean nothing, packs up as small and light as a backplate and wing.

I defy anyone to produce a package that takes up less space and is lighter than an aluminum backplate and something like a Halcyon 27 wing. Lay them flat on the bottom of your suitcase - total weight, 2 pounds, total thickness, maybe 1.5 inches.

Just for kicks, I just took a side pic of my Oxycheq 45 lb wing. Obviously, an 18lb travel wing or a Halcyon 27 is even smaller... and before anyone says something, I'm in the process of moving all my stuff, hence the mess. :)

Take a look.

Um, the wing itself weighs about 2.5 - 3 pounds from memory, and most AL plates are 2 pounds...

18lb wing and an O-Pac is pretty lightweight :)

Wings are good. If you would rather go the standard back inflation BC route, some smaller models like the Zeagle Escape are very nice for travel.

I travel with an Escape - no BP to worry about - rolls up darn small. Not, of course, smaller than Boogie's pic - but again, if you want a standard back-inflate BC (and fairly cheap) try the Zeagle. ScubaToys will match LP's price on them too - with warranty.

For some reason SeaQuest does not advertise it for travel, but it is a very light weight BC (3- 4 lbs) and folds up quite well. Not the cheapest, but a great back-inflate.
