Those are different flights, too. The first one involves overnight travel to get to Cozumel, while the less-expensive second one does not.

The whole process is nuts.

The reason the first flight is afternoon and not the early morning Red Eye was because the early morning wouldn't come up in the search. Sometimes Continental shows a 4:45 am flight, sometimes it's 5:00 am and sometimes it's 6:15 am. None of those came up the first search for that day.

Mabe they want to encourage people who would usually fly in coach to pay a little extra for an upgrade in order to fill the empty first class/business seats. So they offer that possibility on half of the trip for $89.
But at the same time, they know some people will only fly in first class/business. So no price break for the fully upgraded trip.

This might be true if they would leave it on the site for more than a couple hours.

For our flight next week, we ended up going first class round trip for only $50 more per person. Of course the ticket was $800 which is more than I've ever had to pay, but first class will make that price a little more worthwhile.

My fourth leg is on a RJ so there is no first class cabin.

I am flying on a continental award ticket to Cozumel, they are routing me from Phila to Toronto and then Cozumel. On return I am flying Czm to Toronto,Toronto to Ord,Ord to phl.It was the best route at the time for March 24th.

Wanna see something REALLY crazy? I was thinking about maybe a last minute 3 day weekend trip to Coz for Carnival (I know, I know). So it appeared that my best prices were going to be had by buying two one-way tickets (at least on Orbitz). I went to ITA to check one-way prices from Coz to St. Louis and holy cow! The cheapest price was $5,282.00 for a ONE WAY ticket. WTF!!!??? Yes, that is 5 thousand plus. On Delta. (I tried to insert a screen shot but could not make it work.) What in the h*ll are these airlines thinking??? For that money I better be sitting in the pilots lap, and he better look like Johnny Depp; no... he better BE Johnny Depp; and I better be getting a back rub and eating bon bons off of a gold platter while Johnny is telling me how beautiful I am. :blinking:

I have been to Coz. over 30 times in past 3 years and have never seen such stupid prices. So guess I will be staying home. Damn stupid airlines.

Wow! If that's the best route, I'd hate to see the others! At least those are all decent airports... :-)
