I believe that is a good thing that people who post here are exposed to set ups that they might not hear about elsewhere.
Dive Safe.

Chad

I agree wholeheartedly with Chad in this matter. Before I found this board I had never heard of BP and Wings. I might never use them but at least now I know they exist as an alternative to a conventional BC.:hmmm:

Ok I'm not DIR,GUE. BUT I use a BP, wings and I also use a BC, in fact I have one for all diffrent type's of diving that I do. I can most likely get by with my BP,wings. But I like my BC. and I also use a long hose. I use this diffrent kind of gear because I want to the last time I check there where NO gear cop's waiting to tell me what I had to use. I use what I want becuase it makes comfy.
And the best thing is that I'm diving. How I get alot of good info. From this board and the good flames. Becuase it works for me it mite not work for you . As for the flame's if you don't like them don't read them. This is just my 2-cents. We should all get along.

I've been to many boards and I have to hand it to the moderators for doing such a good job, IMO. This is one of the best boards I've had the privilege to be associated with and have met some of the nicest people and have really learned a lot since being here. Yes, there are some heated discussions, but go to any board and you will see the same and much worse in the way of flames. A couple of threads recently have gotten pretty heated, but like someone pointed out there were some aggreements in the discussion between the parties involved ... too, if you don't want to read the thread, don't ... simple. Or, take what you want from the thread, learn from it, block the rest, scroll past it, got to the next topic. It's a great place, with great people, with a lot to offer. If this board isn't for you, there are others, but not the same family. Guess I'm biased in KY.

I don't have much worldly experience although I have traveled out of the country a number of times. One thing I have noticed is , sadly so, Americans seem to think the world revolves around us and what we are. That couldn't be farther from the truth. As Americans we can be a very passionate lot, not unlike other cultures. We're very opinionated, that can be interpeted as arrogant and or rude. While some are rude, don't let that spoil your enjoyment of this forum for interaction and an exchange of ideas and information. Useing walter as the example, I disagree with him often it seems. I admire him though, he has a genuine, possibly out spoken manner about him, which is his right, but he has others welfare and best interests in mind I believe and that is to be admired. I will also say others who push one thing or another on this forum may also posess this passionate personality. Acceptance of others differences and ideas is essential if you want to be heard yourself. I am different and enjoy it, as I'm sure most of you enjoy your lives. Lets just try to be a little more patient at times.

The recent arguements usually result from someone who is opposed to this idea flaming who ever suggested it. I agree that flaming in return is not necessary,

Chad

Not to make light of your concern, but I want to point out that the reason I frequent this board is the lack of flaming, and because of how civilized this board is.

The information here, although great, can be found in other places. However, the interaction of the posters on this board, and what you might consider "flames", is so far above the other scuba related newsgroups as to be a totally different world.

I would suggest that those who have never been there, and have newsgroups available from their ISP, go to "rec.scuba" and look around. That will give you a great appreciation to how this board is run and to the role that the regulators play in keeping it that way.

I have been to the other forums and your point is well taken.

I was referring to the huge difference in how disagreements are handled now and how it was when I originally begain participating. Compared to when I signed up there is more flaming instead of discussing; however, the flames are generally mild compared to what happens elsewhere.

Have a great day.

OOOOH yes. I hate this stuff?
"What do you think is best ? Wings or traditional ?"
Two answers:
Option 1 - how can you EVEN CONSIDER buying a traditional one ??? :upset:
Option 2 - My advive will be like a treasure to you, cause I've been diving for 89 years now, and believe me, I've seen SO many things (b l a b l a b l a) - no answer in the end.

This board is much better, believe me, the flaming here is NOTHING. :)

well said that man!

you can get away with saying that and not get flamed as you are American, but when people asked why I reacted the way i did to certain posts, and gave this reason, i got flamed.

It is really sad that everyone is talking about O-ring like this. The guy does hijack threads, but come on--lets cut him some slack.

The people who do decide to cause trouble and instigate the threads will learn soon enough. I hate to mention names, but members like Uncle Pug, Spectre, Dee, Natasha, Rick Murchison, WreckWriter, NetDoc, and Walter will sooner or later start to make a valuable contribution to this board. It seems everyday I visit here these people continually post meaningful discussions. This has got to stop!!!

As Walter has already said and I just want to emphasis his point, is that if anyone sees a problem on the board hit the "Report this post to a Moderator" or even PM us directly.

There are only a dozen moderators - and although that does sound a lot when you think of the amount of members - the odds don't come anywhere near even!!!

Ladydiver and KingNeptune have managed a great deal with this forum. Not only do they keep out the "rif-raf" who will use this board to spam and advertising their "latest deal" but they have managed to keep everything running smoothly.

Maybe of late there have been one or two more quarrels that there use to be - but there are many subjects relating to Diving that do get heated and the more members this board has the more different opinions.

If you ever believe that a thread is getting out of hand and you see no moderator is involved, do not hesitate to PM us and we will happily help.

I believe ScubaBoard is the best forum and resource for information for Scuba from when I joined to present. Somehow I don't believe it will ever change!
