Hi,
Being in the market for gear I noticed the following trend,
eqipment makers seem to market the same item under different brands.
Aqua-Lung = Sea Quest = Deep See

and I am sure there are others.

Is there any list that I can find that would look as follows:

Aqua-Lung Malibu RDS = Sea Quest ???

etc etc
so that I can have an easier time comparing apples and apples.

How common is this?
What other brands are the same?

Thanks

I don't have an answer to your question, just some points to consider.

Sometimes a co. will buy another and in time integrate it or keep as a seperate division with different products, or they could basically market the same products with perhaps minor modifications under different brands.

I think it takes research to find who the manufacturer is and who they sell their products to.

In the case of the Aqualung Malibu RDS and I assume the Sea Quest Balance BC, they are really two different products.

Different bladders, design and material, pockets, D rings and padding, .........

Do you mean like....
Pelagic making computers for both Oceanic and Aeris.

I don't really know od others but I'm sure they are out there.

You have companies owning two brands, like...
Dacor and Mares
Aqualung and Sea Quest

there are others.
