Hi all
I am also new in ScubaBoard but I have a good experience about diving in Sharm El-Sheikh. I would vote for Thistlegorm wreck. I know that you would like it so much. First of all it is not so deep, there is only current while ascending and descending but during the penetiration there is no current.
If you are looking for good drift dive you can go to jackson reef in Tiran. It has a very good drift current and since you are going in Augest there is a posibility of seening sharks

If you can get on one of the 'early bird' boats which leave Sharm at about 6am for the Straits of Tiran (try Red Sea Diving College), you can dive the outside of Jackson Reef before it gets too rough. This is where the scalloped hammerheads hang out and is also the best place to see Tigers and Oceanic Whitetips.

Last time I was there we swam in the blue with 30+ hammerheads for over 20 minutes whilst they circled us to within 15ft. We were lucky enough to be with a DM who had an underwater video, so unsurprisingly everyone bought the vid!

Just returned from Sharm...

Of the 14-dives in total, I used a 15 Litre steel tank with 32% Nitrox. Some highlights:

Ras Mohamed (4- Dives): Rated as one of the top 10 dive sites globally, enjoyed the dives & coral.
Tiran (2-Dives): Excellent dive sites. The two best are Jackson and Thomas. However, at Jackson beware of strong current NW of the Island – you will be swept away, as were 2-DMs!
Thistlegorm (2-Dives): Definitely worth the 3.5 hrs to get there – a sight to behold. You go down the shock-line and explore. Usually first dive is external and second internal – lots to see – trucks, motorcycles, rifles, ammo etc. There was little current on my dive.
Dahab (2-Dives): Excellent shore dive, but beware of sharp rocks! Enjoyed the Canyon (easy dive), the Bells was exciting and the drift dive to the Blue Hole enjoyable.

In summation: Enjoyed the 14- dives in total with Red Sea Diving College. Am thankful to three outstanding instructors: Nasser Shaban who kept an eye on an inexperienced/nervous diver, Ali who took me around Thistlegorm and Ahmed with his willing helping hands at Dahab! A little disappointed that I did not see some of the larger pelagic fish, but was informed the best time is in the summer: June-August. If I can brave the heat, will return then!

Depends on the time of year but for a normal dayboat around Sharm I'd vote for Jackson Reef. Quieter than Ras Mohammed, superb and I always see something surprising there (eagle ray, free swimming moray, chinese cargo ship parked on a reef...)

Of course the wrecks like the Thistlegorm are amazing but I wouldn't do them except from a liveaboard. Too much of an early start otherwise!
