That sort of thing is common up here. Usually it's a tug-of-war with your camera/flashlight/etc. I agree, the commentary was pretty silly ("deadly suckers". "crush the life right out of him". "Lucky to be alive".) I've never heard of anyone dying or being injured. I guess if you didn't know what was going on, it would be a little freaky, but that's about it.
