What makes you think that these same folks can tell time?

Just in Wally's today and noticed that they have water resistant watches to 120 feet for $9.99. I bought three in case someone needs one. I think that the most important item is a decent set of regs and computer. My comp keeps time so I really don't need a watch. Other than that, for me, is my prescription mask and dorkie Force Fins which keep the cramps at bay.

H2Andy:
this is just mindboggling

how do they manage to get through OW without figuring out the importance of TIME and keeping track of it?
They have always had someone babysitting them...Maybe we need to add a "it's all your dive, plan it and dive it" dive for the last dive to pass OW?
Some of the stunts I have seen pulled, I wonder how more dont die?:shakehead

Garrobo,
If you are just another diver on board and lend someone the $10 watch and it happens to quit working 5 minutes into the dive and the diver decides to stay down long enough to get bent it is the divers fault, but if an crew member gives out the same watch there will be a law suit. No good deed....

Any lawyer will tell you anything and everything is someone elses fault.

Minimum Kit For Traveling Diver:

1> Diver with sufficient clothing to meet modesty codes and weather encountered enroute.
2> Credit Card with sufficient cash available to buy or rent everything needed at destination.
3> Generous heart to leave it all in good hands at end of diving and before returning home. Any funds recovered is a bonus and should be donated to a worthy cause.
I could not have said it better.

basically, there are too many lawyers out there

20 years ago, no one would look at this type of case. today, you have three lawyers trying to get the guy's business so they can survive in a competitive market

i'm not sure what the solution is, but it probably involves holding the lawyers to a higher standard

i know i am idealistic, but the interests of justice should come before personal gain
