...or "somtimes things happen for a reason"

I went out to White's Beach for a night dive last night. The dive began kind of boring...visibility was like 5 feet. Plus, I was fighting with my bouyancy since I was in a drysuit and only in like 10 feet of water for most of the dive. I'm swimming along with my buddy while he attempts to catch bugs (tsk tsk...shouldn't be doing that at night!) when I come across....

...a dive light on the bottom.

Cool...so, I pick it up and try it thinking that it'll never work...Lo and behold, it does and is brighter than my current light. Coolness!

Well, toward the end of the dive, my primary light, which had used batteries in it, starts to die. I've got a backup with me, but it's attached to stuff and is a bit of a PIA to get to, so, after untangling the lanyards from the two lights on my wrist, I finished the dive with the light I just found.

We get back to shore and I share my treasure find with the rest of the group...everyone's excited for me....it's like a $50 find!

Fast forward to me cleaning my gear in the tub at home >>>>

I walk in and tell my roommate (who's also a diver) that I have a present for him. I have two lights, so I gave him the one I found.

I look at my backup light (I just bought it Saturday...my first dive with it), which is the screw-on type, and see it's filled with seawater and sludge....

It's a good thing I found that light on the bottom, isn't it?

*chuckle* I found a light on a night dive at Back Beach. I was all excited, and it looked brand spankin' new. I surfaced, started for shore and there was a group of folks walking in a search pattern out from shore.

After a 30 second moral dilemma, I decided to ask what they were searching for.

*sigh* So much for a primary light upgrade :(

But... fate came back and blessed me a couple weeks ago when I dropped my light. One of the divers that was out in the sand found it and returned it when he came on board! :)

I found an SL4 a few weeks ago... now if only the owner had put a bolt snap on it, they mightn't have lost it :D

Which reminds me, I should put a bolt snap on it before my girlfriend loses it.

Plus the other day she said those words almost every diver loves to hear...

"Can I try your backplate out?"

bengiddins once bubbled...

Funny...this light is an SL4 also. Blue.

I cleaned the sand out of the threads last night. Works great! It couldn't have been down there long, as there was no silt covering it.
