Turtleguy gave a presentation at my dive club (Sea Lancers Diving Club out of Hickam AFB, and we are celebrating our 50th anniversary, we may be in some of your old Skin Diving Magazines), and now he has me looking for a double hose reg of my own.

Does anyone have any hints on finding one? It seems like every time I bid on one on e-bay, it gets stolen in the last minute. Also, is there a brand that most people recommend? There seems to be mostly Mistrals & Aquamasters on e-bay.

Thanks for your help.

The regulator of choice these days is the Royal Aquamaster by US Divers. It was available from 1964 through 1973. What is so nice is that the 1st stage can be rebuilt with new USD (Aqualung) Conshelf parts. The Royal has become more expensive as the interest in vintage diving expands. However, the DA Aquamaster and Mistral are still excellent regulators. There are two web sites that have these regulators for sale, they are:
www.vintagedoublehose.com
and
www.vintagescubasupply.com

Both locations provide well refurbished double hose regulators and the technical expertise to maintain them for decades.
Remember when you buy a regulator on Ebay that it will most likely need to be rebuilt anyway. So I suggest you get one from either Bryan at VDH or Dan at VSS and have one ready to dive.

Hi fishb0y

There are three Aqua Masters for sale in Bryan’s web site. They are rebuilt and ready to be dived. You will not find a better deal if you consider the cost of overhauling one from eBay. Even if you do the work yourself you probably won’t beat that price by much, considering the cost of parts. For me doing the rebuilding is part of the fun, but for the price you can't go wrong with those DA Aqua Masters.

Take a look at this link:
http://vintagedoublehose.com/cart/i...Path=2&zenid=b1aad6588b42b5c7a215c941b001edfc

About brand names, US Divers is the most popular and parts are easier to find. The Royal Aqua Master uses all the same first stage parts as the modern Conshelf or Titan. There are other good regulators but it can be a challenge to get parts.
The three most desirable USD models are the Royal Aqua Master, the Aqua Master, and the Mistral. The Royal being the most desirable.

Good luck and welcome to vintage diving.

you beat me again. You need to go diving more. Get away from that computer. eyebrow

Luis, you are so correct. But, I have been busy. Keep your eye on VDH in the next week or so to see what I have been up to. Hopefully the vintage dive community will appreciate my efforts. But I think I may have made a few enemies. Now that the water is above 45 degrees, I think it is time to blow some bubbles. Talk to you soon Luis.

Glad to see you here. I am so glad you liked the Sea Lancers presentation. Now lets get ready to plan some vintage dives.

Sure thing... I finally got my hands on a DA Aquamaster, now I just need it to get here!

I think we may have a couple at the clubhouse... babysteps.
