Ten years ago this weekend I did my OW checkouts in the Long Island Sound. The air was a little warmer, but the water was 56 deg.
However !, we had no hoods, gloves, or booties (full foot fins).
When I had to crawl out of the water cause I could not stand up, I guess I was a little hypothermic. (just a little)LOL.
As you can tell that experience did not turn me away from diving.
Matter of fact, now I consider 56 deg water warm. Of course, now its dry suit with all the trimmings.
