The week after the trip I mentioned in post #18, I was with another group, and that group included a couple friends whose names ScubaBoard people back then would have known well. they, too, had big camera rigs, but they did no damage to the reefs. Both were cave certified.
I am not saying cave certification should be required. The big difference between a technical and/or diver and the general population of divers is their ability to dive and especially hover in horizontal trim with their feet higher than their hips. It is a critical part of the training. Perhaps that skill should be part of dive photography courses.
