Looking for a single strobe initially for a TG6 with PT-59 housing, got the possibility of picking up an Inon D2000 at a reasonable price. Would this be suitable or should I just pick up an S2000? The camera will mainly be used on warm water dives and at depths less than 40 m.

Any experience of the D2000 whether with the TG6 or previous iterations pop the TG cameras would be greatly appreciated

A single D2000 and TG6 appears to work well, 25 years diving and first dives with a camera and here are some of the 200 plus photos that were keeper after a recent 12 dive trip

I used to have an Inon D2000 (and a D2000s). It is a great strobe. I hope yours will result in many great dives with captured memories.

Just need to pick up a second one now :)

You are getting very goos results with a single strobe, but you will definitely get better results with a second strobe even if for no other reason that the coverage. I forget if it was the D2000 or the D2000s, but one of them has a focus light on it.

The S2000 does not have a focus light and is a tiny strobe. The D2000 does have a focus light. The Type II has a larger sensor and a wheat type bulb, the Type IV has an improved, smaller sensor and a LED focus lamp. Guide Number is 20 but it is more powerful than given credit for due to the very wide and even coverage.

James, if that clarification was aimed at me, I am aware that the S2000 is a compact strobe and does not have a focus light. Inon released a D2000 and a D2000s which were identical except only one of them had a focus light. (IIRC, the D2000 had the focus light and the D2000s did not.)

Thanks, I guess I learn something new. I have never seen a D2000s. I have the D2000 Type I on my left arm and a D2000 Type II on my right arm. My Type I got knocked off a bench (not saying by who and it was not me) and ever after it had issues with the focus light. Last year I had the solder on the board cut to eliminate the focus light function because it would come on and stay on which was not good for battery life, so now I must have a D2000s .

A D2000s, why would we not want the focus light (other than my issue) ?

OP, nice photos. Good work. I wonder, do the raw files clean up the blue cast?

The only reason that I know this little nugget of useless information is because I started off with a single D2000 and when I went to get a 2nd strobe, I couldn't get another D2000 before my trip, but I could get a D2000s. The only difference was the focus light on one of them. They were great strobes, but I have downsized and now have a pair of S2000.

cheers all - I have the one with the focus light, it is a bit bulky but if I can find a second hand one I will buy it, otherwise will wait till my planned 2022 Japan trip and pick up a pair of Sea on Sea YS-03

Really pleased with the results, but still lots to learn
