I have a backscatter and a D710 mounted with the camera, but is hard to align with strong currents. I am new at this and still learning

May I suggest you play with your camera on land? Especially with a strobe or light, it helps to work out those issues when you have some time to play.
I always tell people the best way to get better is shoot everyday. Not for great photos, but to learn the camera and play with the settings.
