Technical diving with oc versus ccr gas requirements

I am one of them — I much prefer that to diving with 4xAl80 tanks.

I’ll ask simply two questions. Have you dived redundant CCRs? Do you find four AL80s of bailout cumbersome?

Tried once but will go that route for MOD3. 4 tanks are doable but I find sidewinder + choptima much more streamlined.

No idea honestly who would teach MOD3 on dual CCR. It is 100% not me! Dual CCR is totally not appropriate for a MOD3 course. I am of the belief that almost all open water dives don't need dual CCR that includes some big dives. It is super easy especially with the Choptima to carry plenty of bailout without adding the complexity of the second CCR. Throw some double 100s on your back and 3AL 80s and you could execute some massive dives. For some crazy cave stuff which is done by a VERY small amount the dual CCR may make sense. This is all my opinion of course but I have done some rather large dives on the Choptima.
