I would try Grant Graves at Malibu Divers too. He's VERY qualified for and to teach... almost everything. Malibu Divers Call and talk to Carter and he'll get you in touch with Grant.

Grant can teach much more....

You might also try Andy Huber at Ocean Adventures in Venice (310) 578-9391

Huber is my vote for sure.
Either that or Andrew Georgitisis who is in San Jose area.
Both are excellent and will teach you the "right" way to do it :)

You could call Karim at Hollywood Divers (Hollywoodivers) and ask him about tech training. He is associated with Michael Kane (MHK) and would be able to give you more info about learning through GUE if that's something that you have interest in.

Christian

As far as I know, Karim and MHK can teach GUE through recreational triox (not Tech1)

for GUE tech1, the best bet is Beto from Bay Area.

Huber and Georgitsis will also teach it "right" (well, "right" in my opinion :) but are not GUE instructors.

Hi Everybody,

I am interested in learning more about tek diving but have been finding it hard to find anyone in the LA area who does any advanced classes. I have looked over the tek diving section and a lot of the shops in the area, but have not had a lot of success. I would appreciate any info on dive shops in the South Bay area in particular who teach some of the more advanced tek classes.

Thanks!
Dan

I'll echo the sentiments that Andy Huber is a great instructor. He's very dedicated and offers comprehensive instruction. He's demanding, and as someone interested in technical diving, I hope that's a requirement for any of your potential instructors.

He just recently joined ScubaBoard... shoot him a PM: txdiver

As for "more advanced tek," what do you mean? Full Trimix, etc.? For that, you would be well advised to look no further than AG at 5thd-x in San Jose. That's a way off, though, if your profile is current.

I'll echo what Clammy said. Grant is top notch, and he's a nice guy too.
