pakman:
I used LLBC (la laguna beach club) for my adv nitrox last yr. Nice folks there (Phil and his crew) and they've got a nice setup in the tech room in the back. Actually I used their facilities but not their instructors, as my instructor who is HK base is friends with Phil and has an arrangement with LLBC. But most people seem very happy with the tech instruction at LLBC and there were a lot of returning customers that weekend.

I'll be off to TechAsia this weekend for a normoxic course with David Ross and others. Will report back next week on how it goes.
i've been meaning to ask this forever but never get an on-topic chance: WHAT IS NORMOXIC????

everytime i read it i'm thinking "normal" "moron" and "toxic"... so i'm thinking: need a tech course to do this??

It refers to the proportion of oxygen in a breathing gas which determines the depth which it can be safely used. Normoxic mixes are gases that have the same proportion of oxygen as air (21%). Its the middle ground between hypoxic (less than 21%) and hyperoxic (more than 21%).

normoxic mixes are mixes that contain 21% (or greater) oxygen.
hypoxic mixes have less than 21% oxygen...

No, Jai had it right. Normoxic is 21%, hyperoxic is greater than 21%.
