Tauranga diver dies - news - waikato-times | Stuff.co.nz
A 42-year-old Tauranga man has died while diving off the coast of Papamoa this afternoon.
He and two companions were diving in about 15 metres of water near Motiti Island around 3pm.
The man appeared to lose consciousness shortly after surfacing from a dive, and slipped back under the water.
One of his companions then retrieved him from the sea floor and brought him back to the boat.
CPR was administered until a paramedic arrived, but the man could not be revived.
His name is withheld until next of kin are informed, and his death has been referred to the coroner.
