I agree with a few others here. Split the tasks and make sure you are both well aware of your tasks before the dive. One person takes the compass heading and the other monitors depth. This way if the compass individual is ascending or descending, the buddy just taps him/her and signals one way or another. Splitting the tasks is much easier than each buddy trying to do all the tasks. Besides that just keep diving!
