Any Swampers on line?

We have a sudden urge to test the waters of Twin Lakes today and need to rent tanks. Is there a DS open sunday in the S Central Houston area?????

BTW. We popped into the lakes yesterday for a recce and someone is doing an awesome job smartening the place up. It looks great! :tree:

Most are closed but you might try WW Diving in Humble. they are open sunday. 281-540-1616

R&D Scuba is open on Sundays now. They're on Westheimer just outside Beltway 8. I don't remember what hours, but you can call them at 713-266-0722. Tell Roxie and David that Mark and Sandra said hi.

Where is Twin Lakes at near Houston? Is the diving anygood?

Thanks,

Bryan,

You should contact Dee or the Beast for a better description. Here is a link to the (slightly iffy) website:

http://www.scubapark.net

The place is a good deal better than the website would have you believe. The water is reasonably clear. There are underwater structures, including platforms, and the onshore facilites are really coming on fast.

A good training / practice spot and apparently quite a good social spot although I dont have time for much of that side of things.

Hope that helps.

Bryan,

First...please don't pay much attention to that website that Grajan posted. The webmaster is no longer connected to the park, so don't pay for the vouchers through there. Mike is working on getting another website going but it's a lower priority than getting the air fill station up and running!

Location: Wherever you're located, go south on 288. Turn left (south) on Hwy 6. go 2 miles and the lake is on your right. The sign says Twin Lakes RV and Scuba Park (or something close) with a dive flag on it. If you pass the Shamrock station, you've gone too far!

Mike and several of us regulars have worked hard over the winter to add shelters, gear benches, more picnic tables and better road bed. The continuous rain has kept us from getting all the shelters done before spring but they are in the works.

The visibility in the early spring can be 15-20ft. I heard the surface to 20ft water temps last weekend was 70º. The thermocline right now is about 20ft. and stays a consistant 22-24ft in the summer. The second thermocline is about 30ft and below that it stays in the 50º range! So even in August, if you want to scrape the bottom, you'll be in thick rubber!

We think it's good diving. Especially being so close to home!

Thanks, Grajan and Dee, sounds great now I need to find a budy to dive with. What are the hours of operation?

Thanks,

Bryan
