diversolo:I found some tanks on ebay that are local and I'm going down to eyeball them. Seller is clueless about them, but they look like AL 80's. How do I tell if they are the dreaded 6351 alloy? What markings will they have?
COVCI:1. No cylinders made by CATALINA ever used 6351 AL Alloy.
2. ANY cylinder made by Luxfer or Walter Kidde with an ORIGINAL Hydrostatic test date prior to 01/88 will be made from 6351 AL Alloy.
3. ANY cylinder with E6498/SP 6498 marking instead of 3AL will be made from 6351 AL Alloy.
Hope this helps.
Chris
