FYI. This knob is made in sections. On our last trip the screw holding it all together on the stem loosened slightly and allowed the black section to rotate on the red piece without opening the valve. Fortunately the boat had a screw driver on board and we were able to tighten it enough to open the valve and dive.
Except that it is a two part system instead of a single knob and loosened just enough for one part to slid over the other. If it had been the standard knob I don't think that slight give would have been enough to stop the valve from operating.FWIW - It is the same with a standard knob. If the nut holding the hand wheel on backs out, the same thing can happen..... Nothing to do with the specific design of the vindicator style hand wheel.
Could see these going on an isolator valve being a good thing.
