So you solo dive a lot but can not reach your own tank valve? :shakehead:
Nope. At least not easily and I think that's true of a lot of divers with shoulder problems.

old-ish thread, but I'll play in it.

Personally, I like the large(r) knob here in cold water. Its also another tool to implement to keep an over jealous DM from touching my equipment (valve) as I'm stepping off the side of the boat....

FYI. This knob is made in sections. On our last trip the screw holding it all together on the stem loosened slightly and allowed the black section to rotate on the red piece without opening the valve. Fortunately the boat had a screw driver on board and we were able to tighten it enough to open the valve and dive.

FWIW - It is the same with a standard knob. If the nut holding the hand wheel on backs out, the same thing can happen..... Nothing to do with the specific design of the vindicator style hand wheel.

Except that it is a two part system instead of a single knob and loosened just enough for one part to slid over the other. If it had been the standard knob I don't think that slight give would have been enough to stop the valve from operating.

I bought this valve handle for a pony tank so i could look at a glance at the valve status. My first thought reading the OP was ,,,,,,, Does the word NEW safety valve mean there are new regs demanding there use? The rest of the thread seems to indicate no to that thought. I have had mixed thoughts about the valve. I doubt that unless forced to (to get air) use them i would not use them on my primary tanks.

No requirement that I have seen or expect to see it seems like another nice to have for the "diver who has everything else crowd". Could see these going on an isolator valve being a good thing.

I love them. When you fill multiple tanks (>50/ day), they're just so much easier on your hands.
