I have had the tank valve dip tube spin off of one of my tanks twice now. It is the only tank I have had any problems with and it only happens when filled on one particular compressor. I don't know of anyone else who has had this problem with this compressor.

Ideas?

strange, are you just spinning it on finger tight? I always give mine a little help with a pair of pliars, and have never had one spin out before.

you can "scuff" the threads a little with a pair of pliers or vice grips. But don't over-do it. If the threads are bent over a little the pipe will hold in place better.

Or do what mwpowell said. Crank the bad boy down!

I'm not sure if I'd want to mix Locktite in my breathing gas.

Is this something that's commonly done?

Stake it. Tighten the tube and then use a center punch to dimple the valve next to the dip tube.

It's not a problem at all. I haven't been a reg tech in years, but manufacturers used to call for it on certain regulator part attachments. Even in O2 environments it is not a problem once it is dry.

I wouldn't use Locktite inside of the tank.

Hey ScubaDad, you may have a good point. Once that stuff is dry, it probably doesn't offgas. If I were going to use a compound I'd use the blue stuff if it's safe after it's dry.
