What is the best way to remove old stickers on steel and aluminum tanks after doing a Vis Inspection? That razor blade scrape is a giant PITA. Don't want to use chemicals or heatgun. Anyone have any ideas?

How do you do a by-then-book VIS without removing the stickers first. What could they be hiding?

Lice?

Here's an idea.... don't bother. A tank with various stickers just has character.... like a suitcase that has traveled the world.

R..

But what about the lice?

Really? Spot heating a section of an aluminum tank to boiling temperature is fine? Doing it while filled is fine? I would be more comfortable getting a steel tank hot, but I would avoid it for an Al tank.. Maybe I am just paranoid.

Being paranoid is never a bad thing.
Luxfer states that you can heat the cylinder up to 280F which is about 137C for up to 24 hours when painting, so I think the hot water would be OK. I remove them after they get filled. the cylinder is a little warm, then use razor to lift an edge and peal by hand.
