I was wondering if there are any tank rentals available close to
turtle beach for a shore dive. I will have my own gear but will
need a tank and weights. Also is there bus service along seven
mile beach ? I will be staying mid-way on the beach and thought
about maybe one day doing a shore dive at turtle beach. I would
need a dive flag as well, maybe a dive shop in the area ? Thanks
for any comments or suggestions.

never heard of turtle beach. Do you mean turtle reef, by the turtle farm? There is a dive shop there, SunDivers, where you would rent tanks and weights and use their facilities. You don't need a flag there.

Hi idive2

Damselfish is right. Sundivers (Sundivers - Home Page) took over from Divetech as the operator at Turtle Reef, below the Cracked Conch restaurant, nearly 2 years ago. Rental and diving here is very easy. You can eat and/or drink here too.

There is also very good shore diving at Lighthouse Point and the Cobalt Coast Resort, both operated by Divetech (Grand Cayman scuba diving cayman island scuba diving cayman island scuba resort cayman scuba training cayman cayman island scuba grand cayman scuba dive cayman islands scuba diving scuba diving in grand cayman scuba diving cayman scuba diving on gran). Again, rental and diving is very easy.

I would consider renting a car for your visit to increase your mobility, flexibility and perhaps enjoyment of what the island has to offer. Pick up and drop off at the airport is very easy.

Enjoy your trip, good diving, Craig

Yes, it must be turtle reef. I have made a note of sundivers and will
check out their shop if I have time for this shore dive. I may rent a car
although most of the boat charters say they will pick up at the hotels
along the beach by van or boat not sure yet, thanks !

yes most all ops will pick you up for boat dives.

I think there is a bus or van system but have never tried it (and don't know if it's typically crowded or has room for dive gear.) In my experience Caribbean public transportation tends to take a really long time to get you where you want to go. Cayman might be better than some places, as things seem to be more efficient there than on many islands. But you could still kill a lot of vacation time this way. If you give it a try let us know how it goes. But I do think renting a car at least for a day or 2 is a better idea unless you're violently opposed to driving on the left. Then use your time when you have a car to check out that shore dive and perhaps tour the rest of the island, particularly things that you wouldn't want to take a cab to.

We don't stay on SMB so don't consider renting a car optional. We use it a little for shore dives away from our hotel, but much more for restaurants/shopping/exploring.

Yes, I may go with a rental for a day or two and will check out the public
transportation also. Definitely want to check out the east end and
other than a scooter i guess a car would be nice. I would like to dive with
two charters but if I dive just a few days I may just go with one charter.
I'll post back with any experiences with the bus service and also the diving,
thanks again for the comments. I'll be leaving in a few days !
