I heard that your not suppose to paint your scuba tanks. I have aluminum tanks that could use a can or two of Krylon Paint. What about airbrushing tanks with desgins?

Painting tanks is NOT a problem IF you have an LDS that will agree to certify said tanks. I'd talk to the LDS, and tell them what you intend to do, and ask them if that is acceptable. A LOT of folks paint tanks, and there is nothing wrong with doing so.

OTOH, painting a tank accomplishes nothing other than to make the tank *pretty*. If that is the objective, nothing wrong with that. Just make sure you will not run into VIP, or Hydro issues due to a pretty paint job.

It won't hurt the tank, but might be a problem at hydro-time depending on how much of a hard-*** the tank inspector is.

Part of the inspection process involves examining the outside of the tank for defects. The inspector could wonder if the new paint job is to cover up damage, and refuse to re-certify the tank.
