Before I start calling dive shops randomly, I wanted to ask if anyone knew a shop that would pick up, fill and return tanks. I'm thinking about getting a tank for pool use but would rather pay someone to take it there and back than do it myself. My preference would be for a place that had Nitrox.

Nice idea.... hmmm.... AIR-TO-GO ......has potential.

Eric,
I believe no one picks up tanks and deliver them for fills as the cost of gas would probably be more than the cost of the fills itself but Philtech would be able to fill your tanks with customs blends if you bring it to them. Any special reason why you want to use nitrox in the pool? If not you could just rent the tanks on the pool itself. All of the scuba training facilities rent out tanks.

I don't know if this is germane to the discussion, but I recall seeing an ad for a similiar service in a British Scuba magazine...
Basically they had a mobile tank filling service that would visit specific spots at a certain time of day..

Like a favorite shore dive site around dawn and so on..
Seemed like a cool idea at the time.

I think some people would pay extra though for the convenience of having their tanks picked up, filled and then returned..

Yeah....hmmm....trailer mounted filling station with tanks to rent. Seems like this is a good idea for the "weekend recreational divers"......

Jam answered the first question, that being that I'd rather not stress out with the traffic & the parking and I'm willing to pay to get it my way I certainly don't expect delivery for free. I don't require nitrox, air would be fine, but if I'm already going to pay an extra 500 over and above the gas cost then what's a couple hundred more for 40%?

While I'd like to rent the tanks at the pool, my housing complex doesn't have any.

I think it would be cheaper for a company that delivers MEDICAL OXYGEN to hospitals to you, than for a dive shop to do the same.

Too wacky to be sure... but if the pool isn't deeper than 20 feet and you had a tranfer whip.....

If you are willing to bring and have it filled on a sunday (no traffic, no stress) I can arrange something for you but definitely not a blend. May I ask, why do you want to go down the pool on a blend?

Mainly because I can. If I'm going to spend all day breathing the crappy city air, I might as well breathe enriched oxygen to counter the effects whenever possible. 40% at 2m isn't a high enough to PO2 to worry about.

I'm not sure why delivering a product would be "wacky", lots of businesses do it all the time. In this case, for air you'd just need to have the customer's c-card data on file and, for Nitrox, the customer would have to have an analyzer and sign something indicating the reading he got and his acceptance.

Dealing with transfer whips goes beyond the inconvenience of going to get a fill. I'd rather pay someone to take the hassle away and just run the analyzer to check the percentage when delivered, assuming Nitrox.
