Is there one tank boot that is any better than another? The tanks I have are wearing UK Boots and all three are cracked.

Soft rubber if you think you really need one. Aluminum tanks don't need them unless your using it in a pool a lot, then they prevent you from breaking the bottom of the pool. For steels, you need them to make the tanks stand up, but not having them could force you to lay them down, thus preventing a possible 'accident' with the tank falling over, then valve blowing off, etc.

I vote for no boots, but if you have to have some Ihave 2 boots for sale that fit lp steel 85's. :)

Hard plastic. They come off easier than the soft rubber ones. You do have to remove them and inspect often. They have better drainage as well.

I have UK boots on my single tanks...they've held up well over the beatings I've given them. And man have I beat them.

Hard plastic because they come off easier. If it is a steel tank, you will want to remove them often and clean under the boot to prevent corrosion. Here is an example of what can happen if you don't.

Holy ****!!!

That's pretty impressive really. Be kind of interesting to have seen that happen....from a distance though.

Yeah, it does kind of impress upon you the necesity of cleaning your steel tanks well and removing the boot after at least every few dives (if not every dive) to clean out the salt residue under them. Lot of power in them there tanks.

I dropped of my tanks to get filled yesterday at my shop...and for some unknown reason *grin* I took my tank boots off and looked at 'em. No reason though...*cough* *cough*

I probably have a big box full in the garage left over from the shop unless we threw them away.
