I recently bought a Luxfer AL80 (model S080) that has the following specs:
Salt water bouyancy:
...full: -1.4 lbs
...empty: +4.4 lbs
Empty weight: 31.4 lbs
Water weight: 24.45 lbs

I guess this is a science question, but I want to understand due to the effect on lead weighting. I have been using the salt water buyoancy specs to trim my weight configuration. I am assuming that's what really matters. So, does that mean lead weighting really has more to do with displacement than real weight?

Do the empty weight and water weight numbers ever figure into lead calculations?

btw: what is water weight?

The empty and water weight numbers don't figure into lead/buoyancy calculations.

Water weight is just a measure of internal volume. It is the weight of the water that the cylinder will hold. In Europe, the S080 would be called an 11 litre tank --- that 24.45 pounds being the weight of 11.1 liters of water.
