Hey,

I am a certified PADI Open Water Scuba Diver looking to do my advanced dive certificate in the next year hopefully. I just moved to Tampa, Florida from Buffalo, NY most of my dives have been fresh water dives with a few dives in the carribean(St Croix to be exact). Basically i want to get my hands on any information, advice and places to meet fellow divers that i can, so i figured starting in forums is a good way. Probably head down to my local dive shop once i locate where they all are and try to introduce myself there. I love the water and I love sailing also, i am looking to purchase a new sail boat within the next 2 years, preferbely around 24-27 foot range.

Nonono... think bigger! We're looking at 38' Hunters... ;)

Welcome to SB and Tampa, Chris. Hope to see lots of you here. :D

I am planning to be in the Clearwater area in a couple of weeks, any good ideas for diving in the areas.
Mike

Unfortunately, There really isn't a whole lot of beach diving in this coastal region. :shakehead
But, there are several good sites not too far offshore (2-12 miles). So for 50-70 dollars you can hitch up with a local dive boat(I personally use SEA FOX when I go out on this coast, But check with others because they aren't the "only boat"in the water.)
Anyway enjoy your stay here and remember this tip "if you come to Fla to dive you should go on the East coast" Because of the diversity and number of dive sites nearer to shore.

Thanks Brew,
I was in Lauderdale for the Christmas break and my wife (also a non-diver like yours) has family on your side of the state. I was looking at doing a night dive with SeaFox on the 22nd of June.
