My brother and I will be flying into Tampa on Sunday and will have some time to kill before we head up to Crystal River. We are meeting a group of people and will be diving some of the springs and rivers in that area. We are looking for some good scuba shops to check out either in the Tampa area, or on the way up to Crystal River. We would also like some recommendations for some good restaurants and bars:beer: while we are in the area.

Thanks ahead of time for any info you can provide that will lead to us enjoying ourselves even more while we are down there :D

I recently switched to Divers Supply on Gun Hwy in Tampa. Their service on my equipment is quick and great, and Ive yet to have to wait for an air fill. They have a wide assortment of equipment on display and always ready too help. My wife and kids are very happy too, they picked up some new wet suits and were very pleased with the service.... And from my piont of view their pricing on quality equipment is very competetive

Charlie's Fish House in Cystal River has decent food a nice tiki bar...and it's within walking distance of Bird's Underwater dive shop which has a nice selection of Scubapro and DiveRite products.

Cheers.

ate at charlies fish house also it was pretty good they had fried ice cream too yum

Cracker's Bar & Grill is worth a visit too.
When we did the manatee trip in January, we had dinner there Saturday night and it was very good.
On Sunday, about 20 of us of "dropped in" for lunch and they handled our group extremely well considering all the separate checks that were required.
Service was fast, food was tasty, and it's reasonably priced IMO.

Agreed on both the restaurants and both dive shops mentioned.

There is also a Macs Dive shop. I've never visited but hear lots of good things about them. One dive shop I do not recommend is EZ Scuba :no

Good luck and happy diving.

Don't forget the Port Hotel & Marina Dive Shop in Crystal River - Say hello to Fred :D

Missdirected <----- The Navy Sea Cadets start the pool training in (Oh heck) less then 6 hours. 7am will come too quickly. We needed a little over 40 regs, 40 BC's, & 80 tanks for the kids :11: Will post some pictures of the kids when I get time.

I just wanted to say thanks for all the suggestions so far everybody! I'll definitely check them out.

If your traveling up 275 to 75 on your way to Crystal river you should look at Calypso divers at Bearss and 275.
