Our humble opinion is that STA-less BP/Wing combinations are even worse than the STA setups, functioning less than optimally for both singles and doubles.

Please explain this. Is an STA-less BP/Wing less than optimal than an STA? It's a matter of personal prefernce. Some people feel that the plastic rods are insufficent to prevent tank roll. Personally I have no roll at all with mine. Or are you saying that it is less than optimal thank your STA-less design, which as far as I can tell from your web page provides nothing to prevent the tank from rolling?

I will agree with you 100% on the latter part. Using a singles wing for doubles is definatly less than optimal.

It's being used as a singles rig - it's not dedicated. If I move from Freshwater (0 weight) to salt (an extra 8 lbs) I take my ss plate (4 lbs extra) and 4 lbs on my belt. Voila. Can't do that with a Jet Harness, huh?

A bp&wing fitted properly offers extreme comfort in my opinion. I realize you put quotes around that statement and that is only your opinion but everyone I've talked to who also uses a bp&wing setup says it's the most comfortable bc they've ever worn. I normally dive dry but I've also use my setup with a 3mm shorty while wearing doubles and have had no comfort issues.

Most ‘Classic’ BP’s have a deeper center profile, along with more pronounced side angles, which allow maximum contact with a set of doubles. – The plate (and air cell) is placed tight against the bands where the bolt threads through. The deeper side angles provide a more fitting contour for the doubles to ‘mate’ to the plate as well.
Many of the ‘STA-less’ plates, which minimize the center channel, and flatten out the angles somewhat, don’t mate as well to a set of doubles. We believe this was done to allow use with a single cylinder, sans STA. However, with the tank strap slots placed so close together, and the center channel width of only a couple inches, there is less surface area to provide a solid mount for a single cylinder without an STA. – Hence the rolling problems some people report.

Our plate secures the tank very well; there is no rolling, or instability whatsoever.

Ok. Now I understand your statement a little more. I use a classic plate (with slots for cam bands) but use a wing with built in stablizing rods. The wing is for single tank only but the plate does well (at least for me) with either setup.

Our plate secures the tank very well; there is no rolling, or instability whatsoever.

I've now been informed that your setup also has stabilizing rods which I couldn't see from the website. I can't see a round object secured to a flat one as being particularly stable but now that I'm aware of the stabilizers I conceed the point.

We don't use stabilizing rods at all. In fact most any brand of air cell, which has slots for tank bands, will work perfectly with our plate.
The slots on our plate are placed farther apart, which enables the tank bands to secure the cylinder rigidly.

My mistake. I had received a PM from another member in response to my original question. I had incorrectly assumed that he was from your company when he said "we...provide a molded elastomeric cradle that is part of our single wing".
