Just got back from a great holiday in Egypt at Taba Heights. This is a reasonably new resort currently consisting of two 5 star hotels (Marriott and Hyatt Regency)

The place is amazing as a resort itself.

Each hotel has its own reef with fantastic snorkelling, you are almost guaranteed to see turtles, armoured sting rays, eagle rays, barracuda as well as the other usual Red Sea species.

There is a main watersports centre about 5 minutes drive away, (free bus every hour). They currently only have two dive boats doing day dives. But the bonus is that the sites they visit are virgin, you don't get hoards of other divers like you do in Sharm.

The dives themselves are not as spectacular as some of the sites around Sharm, but they are still great. Nice ands easy with plenty to see. New sites are being discovered all the time and whilst I was there Egypt signed some agreement with Jordan which should open up some of the Jordanian sites to boats from the resort.

So for anyone looking for an alternative to the other resorts then it might be worth a look. The other good thing is it is dirt cheap (the hotel that is). The dive centre is called Waterworld and is run by Sinai Services.
