Has anyone heard of this material? Is it a "thinsulate clone"? Does it work the same way?

True but most of the references I found are in its use as an undergarment, not who is manufacturing it and exactly how it compares to Thinsulate. If "Thinsulate" (a trademarked name of 3M, I believe) is patented and the patent is expiring then "synthulate" might be the same substance just a different name.

Well poking around the sites it is a hollow microfiber and is 80% effective when wet. I think all references were from European sites. All in all it does sound like a thinsulate knock-off. I think the Green_Manelishi may have hit the nail pretty close to the head. It may be slightly different but it does not seem revolutionary. I don't know the patent law or the status but the thinsulate patent may have run out in some countries.

Anyone know who owns the thinsulate patent?

Pete
