Sydney and Sea Dragon

I will be in Sydney for three days and am wondering whether some one can tell me what is best site to see the Weedy Sea Dragons. I read in DiveOz forums that Kurnell is probably the best bet. Locals can you please chime in and would any one volunteer to dive with me. I will be in Sydney from 18/9-20/9. I can dive early Saturday so that I can fly out on Sunday :-(

I would agree that Kurnell would be the best site to see them, however there can be a problem with the tides, on that saturday high tide is 8:22am which is not good, unless you hit the water around 7:30 ... you want a run in tide

Another option is Bare Island ... on the other side of Botany Bay ... we see weedys here quite often, but would not guarantee you would see one, honestly couldn't guarantee seeing one at Kurnell, but more likely.

The good thing about Bare is it is normally diveable no matter what conditions (swell, waves and wind) are like, and is not tide dependant.

As to taking you diving ... well that is a bit too far in the future to promise that, so how about we wait till the time is a bit closer and see what happens.

If worse came to worse there are some dive shops close to those sites that can arrange for dives there ...

Kurnell is my guarantee weedy dive site and Jonathan at Shiprock Dive should be able to help you too... but not today... hes getting married today :bounce2:
