Swivel adapter

Hi, two-part question:
Is there a comparable 360 degree swivel to the Omniswivel that isn’t $100?
Do people replace hose adapters themselves, or is it more prudent to buy a hose with the adapter already attached?
I don’t see many options for a 40” flex hose with swivel adapter.
Any thoughts appreciated-

Get a fixed 70° or 90° instead?

Despite the umber of people that rave about the CA ones shown here: Cave Adventurers - Swivel - Marianna, Florida USA - Never Undersold! I’ve had more than one fail on me.

with 40" hose you shouldn't need a ball swivel, a fixed elbow is fine, though I actually have had more failures with stripped threads blowing out on the elbows.

The Cave Adventurers ones that @grantctobin fail when people don't RTFM and put a dab of blue loctite on the retaining screw and they split in the middle. I like the Omni's, they're made in the USA by a small family company, the bigger sell for me is that they also deal with the OPV and adapter issue for my Poseidons, but I do have a bunch of the CA ones that I use with the Deep6 regs and they're perfectly fine

I agree, for a 40" underarm primary, I'd just use a 90 degree. In case it's not obvious, the reg can still "spin" 360 degrees on the end of the 90 degree adapter, it isn't "fixed, fixed", it just doesn't have a variable angle like an omniswivel.

I have the Dive Rite XT2 regs, and the primary came with what looks like just over 90 degree swivel (110 degrees?), and after using it one time in the pool, I still felt like it was pulling to my right, and I had to keep readjusting to the left. So, I thought maybe finding a swivel that moves in all directions, not just one 'plane'.

Is it normal practice to (re)place one at home, onto a different hose? Or should it be done by a tech?

It is as simple as it gets, just screw it on and snug it, once it’s on you add the second stage by hand and finger tighten it, need/want some pictures?

just keep in mind swivels lock up under pressure. well, not lock up but get really stiff.
