I'm haivng a hard time, deciding on if I want to buy more set's of reg's, and have deticated reg's, jsut for single tank set-ups, and deticated regs for doubles.

Or, I could add a H-Valve at $150.00 bucks, and I have about 8 single tanks, and a pair of PST 100's doubled up.

My diving is 50/50 , anything beyond 60' I use my doubles, as well as for over head enviroments , and the other half of the times, I'm on reef's, taking pictures, etc.

Is everyone that is diving profiles like myself just have 3 set's of reg's ?

Also, is everyone switching wings and removing the STA, etc, to switch over to doubles, or is everyone just using two BP/Wing set-ups , one deticated for each.

I dive " DIR " configurations, and my hoses all have the halycon DIR hose kit's on them.

I'm diving a Halycon BP/Wing set-up , with the storage pack, and life bag tucked in.

I'm not sure If I want to spend another $1000 bucks on new set's of reg's for doubles, or If I just want to add a couple of H-valves on the tanks, and buy just one more reg set-up, which would come out to the same at $150 bucks a H-valve.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

i just change my regs whenever i go. it only takes a minute to change them, and i only have one backplate and wing. i just have to switch the sta with the double bands and i'm good to go.

Obviously I get a pretty good price on regs.

I have set ups for singles and my tech setups.

Beyond saving time, my tech regs regs are all "clean" for use with deco gas and by only using them with my tech sets I can be pretty sure the clean stays that way.

When recreational diving singles my air sometimes can come from anywhere which always leads me to be more cautious.

Just outta curuiosity,. You diving with Oceanic regs for tech?

How do you like what you are diving with if so?

Ive had just about every reg on the market, over the past 5 years, but never used Oceanic regs

I'm using GT3 seconds and PX3 first stages for tech, all around for back gas, stages and deco. They are very high performance, adjustable seconds(so I don't lose gas when scootering or from my backup reg, stage/deco regs)

This way all spare parts are exchangable.

Did I mention that this combo is also inexpensive (I still have to pay for them after all) You can get this combo(dive shop orders PX3 First DIN and GT3 second seperatly, this isn't a combo we sell together) for about $300. There is nothing that will give you this level of performance at this price.

I've used in the past for tech Posedin Jetstreams, SP MK20/G250's and G500's, Mares Abyss and ATX 100's for tech, this breaths as good as deep as any of them and better than a couple of them.

You said, you dive "DIR" configuration, such as a reg and wing in other thread.

Why don't you just follow what DIR said?

I am not DIR, but, I am using a long primary, bungeed 2nd for the double. But, I got a seprate set only for the single. It makes my life easier....

BTW, I am using Air 2 for the single set when I want......;)

I have personaly found that putting a y-valve or h-valve on my single tanks allows me to use the same regs for doubles and singles.
Therefore I just swap wings and add the single tank adapter which I leave attached to my single tank.
It's almost effortless to go between singles and doubles this way.
Plus you dont have to have a dedicated single tank regulator.
Hope this helps,:D

hmm,, thats good information. I'm going to look them up now.
I had the Posedin Jetstream, didn't like it. I loved the MK25-S600 ,
Loved my Atomic M-1, Never had Apex, but always hear great things about them, and Now I's diving with a Aqualung LX Supreme , which I like, but the Scuba pro and Atomic I think breath smoother.

Yes, I was a " Diving hardware Store " UW, LOL, I had so much crap hanging off me for saftey, UW Epirb's, dual bladder bungeed wings, all that crap, lol

A couple of my friends have been diving " DIR " and I sold my whole confiruration and switch everything over to " DIR " configuration. I love it, I'm very stream lined, but I also lost my pony, which I don't like, diving that way. I been diving with a 13cf or 19cf pony for years. I lost my dual bladder bungeed wing, which I couldn't inflate oralley UW, So that was a good point, but I'm not a 100% " DIR " , my friend is, he lives by it, I'm trying to find a happy medium

Here's the easy answer: If you can afford it, seperate regs are the easist. (as is a seperate plate for wetsuit/drysuit etc).

If you can't afford it, or simply don't want to, it only takes a few moments to swap hoses around.

I've dove H valves and used to like them. Since I tried a set of AL 80's in a skin, I much prefer those to any single 80. I also tried a tiny set of double 45's and they were extremely comfortable and about the same wieght as a single 80 but redundant. (they have since become a set of 02 bottles)
